CTTA Membership Benefits

  1. CTTA continues to look for new and innovative ways to enhance the value of the membership of the association. These benefits are available to all members of the association, which includes Associate, Affiliate and Allied members. The association welcomes recommendations for additional benefits available which would help increase our membership. Please make sure you read the Towline for any updates and changes.
  2. SEMI-MONTHLY NEWSLETTER - Published semi-monthly, CTTA's "TOWLINE" contains current and relevant information pertaining to the towing industry. We also include a calendar of events, which will provide training schedules, and meeting notices.
  3. TRAINING PROGRAM - CTTA members and their employees pay a nominal amount to attend two-day "hands-on" training classes. The Light Duty Class is normally scheduled throughout the state on a monthly basis. The Heavy-duty training classes (3 day) are held six times every year. Our Training Department continues to look for new and innovative ways to improve training. Some classes currently on the "drawing board" include Management, Dispatching and expanded Light duty. This program remains one of CTTA's most popular and important benefits; we also provide national certification through the Towing and Recovery Association of America (T.R.A.A.).
  4. LEGISLATIVE PROGRAM - Seeking to secure the most advantageous position for the towing industry (Large operators and small operators alike), the CTTA constantly researches legislation and laws. In the past, the Association has written or sponsored more than 25 legislative revisions, which were subsequently adopted. In addition, CTTA has amended a number of bills that affect the towing industry through direct involvement with the legislature.
  5. LIAISON WITH THE CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROL - CTTA represents its members on the CHP's Towing and Service Agreement Committee and in other meetings with the CHP. CTTA's unique and unprecedented position allows for it to have direct communication with the agency that regulates the towing industry.
  6. LIAISON WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLES - CTTA engages ongoing communication with the DMV on issues relevant to lien sales and other related topics.
  7. CHECK GUARANTEE - The Association guarantees company checks, not exceeding $1,000.00 written by CTTA members to fellow members.
  8. MICHELIN NORTH AMERICA - The CTTA has negotiated a tremendous program exclusively for members. All commercial truck tires can be purchased at a 35% discount from published retail prices.
  9. CREDIT CARD PROCESSING - Credit card processing is available from one of our Associate Members with attractive rates and fees already negotiated. Check Guarantee service is also available so our drivers can accept checks on the road without concern.
  10. CALIFORNIA PREFERRED CREDIT UNION - (Formerly UNIPAC Federal Credit Union) Offers membership to CTTA members and their employees. Members of the Credit Union may finance commercial vehicles, equipment, and liability insurance.
  11. EMPLOYEE SERVICES - Assistance in hiring new employees is available for CTTA members through the Association approved programs, which includes background checks, drug and alcohol screening. We also endorse a voluntary benefit package offered by several members of our Association. This type of program allows you to provide voluntary benefits at no cost to you.
  12. COLLECTION SERVICES - The CTTA has several collection agencies that are Associate Members and are available to provide collection services and advice on how to handle this very critical issue.
  13. ANNUAL CONVENTION & TRADE SHOW - Provides education, information, entertainment, recognition and exhibits of "state of the art" equipment; this gathering of towing professionals and their families remains one of the highlights of the year. Widely anticipated, it serves as a terrific opportunity to meet friends and colleagues, as well as to exchange ideas.
  14. MEMBERSHIP HANDBOOK & DIRECTORY - Supplied to all CTTA members, this informative handbook contains all current laws affecting the towing industry, as well as other pertinent information for your business. It also reflects a current listing of all CTTA members and Associate Members.
  15. LOCAL CHAPTERS - There are fifteen chapters throughout the state of California. Chapters meet monthly and their meetings usually include informative guest speakers. The events allow members to interact with local colleagues in the towing industry and discuss mutual problems or concerns on a local basis as well as throughout the state.
  16. DRIVER COMPETITIONS - Each CTTA chapter conducts its own driver competition with the top two drivers from each chapter advancing to compete in the Annual State Championship.
  17. REVENUE SHARING PROGRAMS - Some companies provide a rebate back to the association for the products and services our members use. One such program is offered by A.W. DIRECT - This Company rebates 5% of all sales to CTTA member's back to the Association. SAN DIEGO TELECOM - rebates 10% of all dollars spent on long distance usage back to the Association. This money can be used to enhance our educational programs and ultimately reduce the cost to the members.
